We Won!

22nd March 2022

Earlier in 2021, the Fife Partnership launched the Fife Civic Recognition Awards, administered by Fife Voluntary Action. This was an opportunity that enabled anyone in Fife to nominate a volunteer or organisation that they believe went above and beyond in their efforts during the earlier part of the pandemic. Cupar Foodbank nominated Kay Speirs.
Kay has volunteered at the foodbank since 2014, prior to the pandemic she volunteered two hours every Monday and was a “Meet and Greet”. Responsibilities included listening to people’s needs, then signposting people to support agencies for assistance.
At the height of the pandemic Kay was volunteering thirty hours plus per week, with additional tasks of weighing, sorting and stacking the large quantities of food we were fortunate to receive from the generous businesses and people of Cupar and the surrounding area. Kay also assisted with deliveries to those people who were isolating.
By these efforts, she has earned the respect and gratitude of both those she assists, and her fellow volunteers at Cupar Foodbank. 💚
In addition, the Cupar Foodbank received a “Certificate of Recognition” in the category Exceptional Organisation (Charity/Community Group) Award.
Pictured is Kay receiving her certificate from Kate Hughes, Vice Chairperson of Cupar Foodbank Trustees, and Joe Preece receiving the Organisational Certificate on behalf of all the volunteers who work at the Foodbank.
The Certificates are endorsed by Lord Lieutenant of Fife – Mr Robert Balfour – and the Provost of Fife – Cllr Jim Leishman MBE.💚
